Richmond Mayor Eduardo Martinez appears poised to lose his reelection bid, with City Councilmember Claudia Jimenez and Ahmad Anderson seemingly headed to a runoff in November based on unofficial election results.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m feeling good that the early results show me leading this, but it\u2019s still a lot of other votes that we need to count,\u201d Jimenez told KQED on Wednesday. \u201cPeople believe and see what I have done. I am not just saying what I will do, but I am saying, look at this, is what I had done.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jimenez, who represents the North and East Richmond neighborhoods on the City Council, appeared to be the frontrunner with 34% of the vote, according to results posted by Contra Costa County early Wednesday. Anderson, who has positioned himself as a more moderate alternative to Jimenez and Martinez, was in the second spot, with 28.64% of the vote.<\/p>\n
